Solar Eclipse Celebration at Maynooth University

The Department of Physics at Maynooth University is delighted to invite you to a special celebration of one of the deepest solar eclipses visible from Ireland in decades. This remarkable eclipse will see more than 90% of the Sun obscured, and the next eclipse of comparable magnitude will not be visible from Ireland until 2090. The event will take place on August 12 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm in the IONTAS building and will feature eclipse viewing, a live planetarium show, arts and crafts for kids and short talks. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the eclipse safely through:
- Eclipse viewing glasses
- Solar telescopes
- Live astronomy demonstrations
